These panels are light weight. The painting surface is oil-primed linen. It has a mild weave texture and a perfect surface for oil paint. It will not soak in the oil from the paint like regular canvas panels.

No fibers will pick up on your brush like canvas. It is slightly slippery which is perfect for paint application. Cool black sides and backing.
